Corporate Social Responsibility
With Good Management and Sound Finances
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); With some justification, 'CSR' has become the World 'Buzz Word' of the new millennium. Under the former regime in Hungary (as with other CE countries), state corporations placed little emphasis on real corporate or social responsibility. The custom was to offer the minimum as decreed by the state. Any extra efforts made by forward thinking companies was either quashed because it was non-conforming or deeply investigated as non-standard activity was usually associated with 'slush'. The net effect of these deep-rooted attitudinal problems is, fifteen years after the change, CSR is presently treated with deep suspicion. By linking RBIF charity activity with cultural exchange, an opportunity occurs for RBIF to coax CSR into Hungarian life. This would be by way of offering interesting targets, products and ideas for companies, which, with clever additional tax mitigation, effectively costs the companies little or nothing. Hungarian managers would like to be ‘up with’ their European counterparts but it seems they genuinely do not know how to do it without costing them or their companies a lot of money. With expert advice from our friends and sponsors, RBIF will develop a formula to help these managers. These managers then become the ‘social beacon’ in Hungary and ‘trainers of others in the future’. CSR product offers will not be limited to Hungarian companies. RBIF will work closely with the Hungarian Business Leaders Forum, British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, The Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and ALL other bodies in EU dedicated to CSR.
