Steve Jones, 48, was born in Moreton, Wirral (near Liverpool) and qualified as a B Sc in special honours physics and in education at Sheffield University and at Salford where he completed an M Sc by thesis in technology education. He taught physics, mathematics and control technology in the UK and Africa and moved to Hungary in 1999 with his Hungarian wife after retiring.
Having worked part time administering the Hungarian Scottish Society he has now taken on the role of General Secretary for the RBIF. He is also Programme Director of the English Speaking Union and a semi-professional folk singer (www.singlish.hu), running his own folk night and regularly working for Oxford University Press, MacMillan publishing and other educational establishments.
He has two children in the UK at University, his son (Russell) studying sound engineering and his daughter (Meghann), having completed a law degree, studying postgraduate 'conflict management' at York, after spending two years teaching English in Japan .
